About us

What we stand for

Aldworth School is a popular secondary school in Basingstoke with 940 students on roll. We are over-subscribed again this year for transfer from Year 6 into Year 7 for September 2016 and we anticipate our total number of students to grow close to 1,000: our maximum permitted number. With secure student numbers we are in a healthy and stable financial position, ensuring we have excellent levels of staffing and indeed enabling us to increase staffing levels further.

We describe ourselves as “a vibrant learning community with an ethos of ambition and achievement.” This is reflected in our expectations: respect yourself and others, endeavour to do your best and achieve your full potential. Our staff are a dedicated and enthusiastic team who share our vision for providing an excellent experience for the young people who come to school here.

We will provide you with regular training through our INSET meetings (twice every half term) as well as our whole-school INSET days. In developing teaching and learning we have a core group of staff ‘teaching coaches’ who lead training activities and share best practice. This is a really positive venture for us and has impacted on learning in the classroom. The governors of Aldworth School are committed to the CPD of staff and there is a Masters’ Degree sponsorship scheme which fully funds MA courses from recognised providers.

As a Hampshire school we work closely with other local schools and the local authority. Hampshire officials worked with us in partnership investing £1.5 million in redeveloping our largest building and all works were completed by the end of April 2015. Hampshire are investing a further £1 million in redeveloping our Mathematics Building and work is already underway, due to be completed in the autumn term 2016. Our facilities were already very good and these refurbishments are transforming the school.

Aldworth can offer:

  • Excellent support from a thriving school and supportive colleagues.
  • High quality Continuing Professional Development, including a Masters Degree scheme funded by the school and delivered by a local university.
  • The opportunity to take an active role in innovative curriculum developments.
  • A high quality induction programme.
  • School funded laptop for school and personal use.
